Jobs...To Find or Not To Find

Who has not seen this before? Scouring the newspapers and online ads to find work. It is sickening that this happens. And half the time there is never a decent job to be had.

What are we to do? The Daily News, The NY Post, The Staten Island Advance, Craigslist, CareerBuilder. Just a few of the online sites, as well as, newspapers to go job hunting with. What happened to the old days when you could work at the corner store and not have a problem making money for the bills?

I cannot count the amount of time I have wasted online and going through the paper looking for work. And guess what? Every ad I responded to was either never answered or they already had someone in mind. How can you just post the ad and already someone has gotten the job?

It is sickening and down-right ridiculous that the business world is this way.

And not to mention what about the jobs that want a degree? By the time I get the degree they want they step it up to another degree! By the time I get my bachelor's it is not going to be worth anything! I can find jobs for other people, but yet I cannot find a decent job for myself.

How about do you like your job? I am a waiter for about a decade now and I do love my job on certain days and on others I want to strangle people. (Check out the Horrible Tippers...Tell Me Why? post if you want to get the back story on that one.)

Sadly, most people do not like their job, but continue to work because there is nothing they can do. In my opinion, I think jobs should be easier to find and employers to be more willing to help teach a new worker rather then rely on finding someone with experience who may leave whenever another opportunity presents itself.

What's your take on the job situation?
